Hello,

I am using The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe. I expect the calendar, as well as the single event pages to show within the content are of the page, but the entire page is blank.

When I am using TwentySeventeen, the content shows. When I associate the Archive, and Pages to a layout with my own theme, the content does not show.

I am happy to give access.

Please advise.

Just a note, I used some code found in the post:

https://toolset.com/forums/topic/making-layouts-work-with-the-events-calendar/page/2/

And part of it works.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Hi, as you probably saw in the other ticket, The Event Calendar plugin and Toolset plugins have had compatibility problems for a while. Now that Layouts 2.0 is out, you have the ability to use or not use Layouts on a page-by-page basis, which should help facilitate some of the changes necessary to integrate with Event Calendar. Our developers have decided to collaborate with their developers on an integration, but I don't have a plan or implementation timeline.

For now, our official position is that Event Calendar and Layouts are incompatible. In the meantime, if there is a specific Toolset API function that does not seem to be working correctly in your theme's custom integration code, I'll be glad to take a look.

Hello there,

Can you elaborate on this new feature?

When you say the ability to use or not use layouts on a page by page basis, do you mean using a custom php template?

Please let me know if you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Sure, the codebase for Layouts includes core functionality that will enable Layouts integration with Theme Options. Theme developers will have the ability to include a small config file in their theme, which will allow Layouts to hook into their Theme Options and enable or disable certain theme elements on a per-Layout basis. For example, if your theme has an "enable sidebar" option, you only had the ability to enable or disable that for the entire site before. Now Layouts is designed to allow you to select a different option per Layout, if these options are registered in a standard way.

We're currently working with several popular theme developers to get this config file added to their themes, and verifying them through our QA process. So work is moving in the right direction for facilitating special Event Calendar functionality on specific Layouts, but we're not quite there yet. We have some more information about our compatibility program here:

Christian,

I have created my own base theme for the development work I do. From the sound of your last message, the theme integration for theme developers is not completed yet. Did I misinterpret this?

If you have this functionality ready, and I can integrate the code into my theme for more minute control of Layouts, I'd be very interested.

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Extending this functionality to enable Events Calendar functionality on specific Layouts is what I meant is not quite there yet. The Beyond Pages program is up and running, and we invite you to sign up with your base theme at the link I posted! You can begin working with our integrations team to provide a configuration JSON file that will enable more granular control over Layouts via Theme Options. A handful of popular themes are already in the process now, so you will have some company.

Christian,

I do not distribute this theme, and it is basically just a blank slate starter for my projects. I don't have most of the links you are asking for in the Beyond Pages sign up form.

I suppose I could just fudge it, but I wanted to check to see if I was eligible.

Thanks.

#559377

I see what you mean. For now, please apply with fudged information if necessary, and mention that you would like some guidance for future projects that are based on your starter theme. I will reach out to the team to find out if there is a better procedure for you to follow to begin setting up your new projects in a framework that will be ready to integrate with Layouts through Theme Options. If I get an answer before you, I'll post my response here.

Hi, just checking in here to see if you were able to get a response from the Beyond Pages contact form. I didn't receive any additional feedback about other procedures for application. If you got a response, I think we can close this ticket out for now.

Christian,

Thank you for your reply. I haven't had an opportunity to look into this further. I have been overwhelmed with other work at the moment.

I'm sure I'll loop back to this soon.

Okay no problem, I will mark this ticket as pending an update from you. It will remain open for 30 days unless you reply before then. No need to reply right now.
