add_theme_support or wp_title(); - why both??

This support ticket is created 7 years, 9 months ago. There's a good chance that you are reading advice that it now obsolete.

This is the technical support forum for Toolset - a suite of plugins for developing WordPress sites without writing PHP.

Everyone can read this forum, but only Toolset clients can post in it. Toolset support works 6 days per week, 19 hours per day.

I've been told (in a separate support thread) that the Toolset starter child theme has declared add_theme_support for title tags. In researching how to change the format of my titles, I've learnt that this replaces the previous use of wp_title(); and the two should not be used together. I've noticed though that wp_title(); is still used in header.php.

Please clarify.
