HI there. As we work with writers primarily, we've learned that Amazon are switching to an increasing demand on the .jfif file format for images, rather than straightforward .jpg. As a result, members are trying to upload their images in that format to our site. Toolset does does accept them or display them, however.

My ticket on this issue is here: https://toolset.com/forums/topic/upload-of-the-jfif-file-type-in-cred-forms/

Please could you add support for this format in an upcoming release? I know it's a random request, but it is one of the small things that could make such a big difference. And as it's Amazon, I'm sure it will become a bigger demand.

Many thanks for your time.

Very best wishes,
Andrew.

There was a "discussion" about that in WordPress 3 years ago:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/jfif-images-why-doesnt-wordpress-like-them/

I find no other discussions in regard, and the file type can still not be uploaded to WordPress natively, this is entirely unrelated to Toolset, and a security issue on top if allowed:
>bike bum baby.jfif
>Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.

Hence, I would say we will not add this to Toolset, but of course, if you want, you can always use Christians's filter, at your own responsibility.

For Toolset CRED, if there the rules you set in WordPress do not apply, we might rather speak about a BUG or compatibility issue, but I would not suggest to "break" WordPress's intended behavior.

Better is to ask WordPress to allow it, then we can as well allow it.

Thanks so much Beda.

I understand that correctly. Much better not to break WordPress default behaviour.

Do you have any information on why it is a security issue?

Very best wishes,
Andrew.

That, I have not really but there are several "examples" in the internet, on how to exploit it.
I know WordPress is picky and sometimes it may seem a bit overturned in security questions.
This is for our own best 😉

Thanks, very much appreciated.
