Hello again.
I encountered 2 things that annoy me quite when I want to set a parent for a post. Can we change these?
See images.

Having to save the post first (and waiting for the saving to proceed) seems like nothing but a waste of time.

And can I somehow display the dropdown contents without having to type something? The example screenshots in the documentation always have populated dropdowns...

If there is no solution to change these on my surface then I hereby recommend these to be fixed as part of an update. 🙂

Thanks for the help.

Hello and thank you for contacting Toolset support.

Having to save the post first (and waiting for the saving to proceed) seems like nothing but a waste of time.
=> I will forward your request to our concern department, if they think this feature is feasible enough they will add it to their todo's list and it will be available as a added feature in near future release.

And can I somehow display the dropdown contents without having to type something? The example screenshots in the documentation always have populated dropdowns...
=> With types 1.8 release we have introduce the jQuery "select2" select box for users to provide more user friendly controls.

Thank you for your response.
I'm not sure what to do with the information about jQuery "select2". Are these supposed to be the more user-friendly controls? I have the latest version of the plugins, but this doesn't seem to be user-friendly to me. The most user-friendly solution would be if the dropdown would be populated with ALL items, and then if I would start typing then it would filter the results. Having an empty list with no recollection of the item names in them, and being forced to type instead of scroll through the list is not user-friendly. Can I have a populated list by default somehow?

The reason you need to save your post first because when you are creating a new post and before saving it you don't have any post ID yet, and without post ID we don't able to establish the relationship between the child and the parent.

For select2, I've already submitted your feature request and we also have internal ticket to handle this feature request. You can see updated version of select2 with improvements with Types future release version 1.9.
