Hi.

I have installed Toolset Starter Theme with all Toolset plugins.
When i go to single post and then click "Front-end Layouts Editor", i can edit EVERYTHING, including the title, date, category, etc??

This can't be right, can it?

I bet you some users will do that, without realizing they are actally editing the template, and thereby affecting ALL posts.
Some users will probably delete the shortcodes, because they don't know what it is, and replace it with some text.

Shouldn't such major changes ONLY be allowed in the backend template?

Hi, I understand the concern here - editing a Layout from the front-end editor can have fairly large-scale implications for the rest of your site. With that in mind, we have some documentation that discusses what is possible when using the Front-end Layout Editor, and the implications of the changes you can make.

Do you think the document could describe a certain aspect of the editor workflow better? I'm able to report any potential usability issues or specific documentation gaps for resolution. Please let me know if I can do that for something specific and I will be glad to do so.

Hi.

No, the document is good.
The only thing i would recommend is that you put in some warning message when you edit these kind of areas, like Title, Date, Category. Because the editing box looks exactly like they do when editing the Content.

When you edit Archives, Views, etc, it's absolutely clear that you're editing the template. But not in this case.
So that people understand they are actually editing the template.

So maybe a different "look" on that box, and with a message:
"This will affect ALL posts....Are you sure...?" Something like that.

Okay, I've passed this information along to our team for discussion as a feature request. As I hear back from them, I'll be glad to post updates here for you.

Hi, I wanted to follow up and let you know that, after discussion, our developers have decided not to proceed with implementing this warning. Instead, they suggest using Access to limit the ability to modify Layouts for Users that should edit Posts but not templates. Thanks for the suggestion, but at this time we do not plan to include the warning.
