Placeholder not working

The placeholder for Custom Taxonomy using a select field is not working. This is my code

 [cred_field field='payment-status' placeholder='Did you get paid' display='select' single_select='true']

I even tried to add some JavaScript instead to see if this helps but nothing.

 ( function( $ ) {
    $( document ).ready( function(){
         
        $("input[name='payment-status']").attr("placeholder", "Did you get paid");

Any solutions? Thanks

Hello. Thank you for contacting the Toolset support.

Well - you are displaying field as a select dropdown so select dropdown do not have placeholder attribute.

You can try following wrokaround:

jQuery(document).ready(function($){

jQuery("select[name='wpcf-payment-status']").prepend('<option value="">- Did you get paid-</option>');
jQuery("select[name='wpcf-payment-status']")[0].selectedIndex = 0;

});

Thanks but that did not work. I will use Gravity Forms instead.
