Just wanted to ask a quick question in case anyone had done something along these lines already… Can Types & Views allow me to create a telephone like directory like the attached screen grab?
I’ve been giving it a try and have made some progress.
I created a Custom Post Type "Therapies" to be used with "Categories" Taxonomy.
I then set up Categories for A, B, C thru Z and assign each "Therapy" the relevant A, B, C thru Z category depending on the initial character of the "Therapy".
I created a View Query which is set to "WordPress Archive" and uses Post Type Loops = Therapies and Taxonomy Loops = Categories
I created a Content Template with the following:
[wpv-post-taxonomy type="category" separator=", " show="name"]
[wpv-post-link]
So it almost displays as I want it, but I only want the Category "A, B, C" etc to display once and then all "Therapies" will be grouped under that Category (like the screen grab in my previous post).
Any help with how to get this working would be most appreciated. I know I can't be far away.
Craig, could you try this:
1) Create a Normal View "Single Category List", Filter with:
Therapies, ordered by post title, descending
Select posts with taxonomy: Categories , selected by the parent view.
2) Create a View template "Single Category List Template", put the View "Single Category List" into it,
3) Create a Normal View "Therapies category list", for list all a~z, Filter with:
This View selects Taxonomy of type Categories, ordered by Name, ascending
Fields to include:
Taxonomy title
View template "Single Category List Template"
Then put the View "Therapies category list" into one of your page.
Craig, the View "Single Category List" should filter with:
Therapies, ordered by post title, descending
Select posts with taxonomy: Categories , selected by the parent view.
